Benoît is in debt and once again has to ask his rich parents for help. His plan to get the money: to make them believe that he is marrying his model friend Emily. The young couple is invited to Morocco to meet the whole family. When Emily cancels her trip to the airport, Benoît decides to invite Fiona, a loudmouthed Uber driver, instead. It’s just… Read all. I had the chance to see this movie at a preview screening, and I’m glad I didn’t have to pay for it, because it was really mediocre. Let’s start with the worst: the script is completely hollow, and the humor is just stupid, without a trace of wit. The tastelessness is everywhere, which wouldn’t be a problem if there was at least a little bit of subtlety, but no, it’s just vulgarity for the sake of vulgarity, probably intended to please a certain type of audience. In short, there’s not much to say about this French comedy. Of course Michèle Laroque and Gérard Darmon are experienced actors who have nothing left to prove, but what did they do in this disaster? A pleasant surprise, however, is the male lead actor, whom I didn’t know before, but he gives a solid performance and adds a little value to the film. Another thing I liked was the opening scenes with the kidnappers, which were well shot, but unfortunately the rest of the film didn’t come through.
